How To Easily Build Rapport With The Use Of Body Language

It doesn’t matter whether you are interviewing someone or being interviewed, the process can be stressful. It is very rare to establish an instant rapport to make the conversation go smoothly.

Instead, we have to work at it, using verbal and non-verbal communication until we feel comfortable enough to act normal.

Of course, not everyone is the same. A furrowed brow may mean something different for you than it does for me. That said, in general, the following is a list of actions to make the conversation easier:

1. Uncross your arms

2. Smile with your whole face

3. Copy their body language

4. Square your body with nothing between you and the other person

5. Don’t tap your fingers or answer your phone

It takes work to build rapport, but it’s worth it when you are in the middle of an interview. Both parties can be comfortable and genuine.
